Windows Vista and Linux on the same computer

Windows Vista and Linux on the same computer

Suppose that you have two partitions. One has Windows Vista OS (C)and the other has a Linux distro like Ubuntu or Pardus (D). Windows has file system NTFS and Linux has Ext2 and Ext3. Normally Windows cannot recognize Linux partition and does not sees it. And you cannot reach the other partition (D).

Thanks to a freeware software you can use both of the partitions without any problem. Here it is.

You may not run this in Windows Vista. All you have to do is running it in SP2 mode. To run in XP SP2 mode right click on the file then click "properties". Then open "compatibility" and check the box there. Thats all!

First of all, back up your registry because we are going to modify it to make Help and Support Center work again. After that step write down:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.xml]

@=”xmlfile”

“Content Type”=”text/xml”

“PerceivedType”=”text”

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.xml\OpenWithList]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.xml\OpenWithList\winword.exe]

@=”"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.xml\PersistentHandler]

@=”{7E9D8D44-6926-426F-AA2B-217A819A5CCE}”

in a notepad. Then change your notepad file's extention from TXT to REG. After that step double click on that file and add it to your registry. Thats all.

If you think that you cannot achieve this process, download ready registry file and add it.

Windows Vista Help And Support Center Problem

Some programmes are not executed perfectly in Windows Vista as in Windows XP. Adobe (Macromedia) Dreamweaver is one of those. After you install Dreamweaver, you may have a warning telling that "Internet Explorer cannot download / from windows. Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later." bla bla when you try to open "Help and Support Center." in Windows Vista. This is caused by Dreamweaver's feature. When you accept Dreamweaver to be default Xml editor, Help and Support Center may stop working.
